If I cut off the section past the Lightning connector, will it still block the mic? I don’t want to carry around a phone with a dangling cable.Updated a year ago

This unfortunately won't work because the section you want to cut off contains the Mic-Lock circuit. 

In this case, I would recommend going for our Mic-Lock Lightning Single Ended instead.
